Cooking with Kids- Artichoke and Parmesan Dip


Here’s a tasty Thanksgiving Day Treat or for any pre-meal occasion that can be simple as well as fun to cook with kids and have fun all the while. Alternative for fresh ingredients or quick and easy straight from the cabinet- which ever suits you! Important that cooking with kids is fun with love!


2 cans (14 ounces each) artichoke hearts, drained and chopped or boil fresh use accordingly
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese or buffala mozzarella for a special treat
1‑1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
1‑1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon diced oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or fresh garlic
4 pita breads, corn chips or large round bread to use as bowl and french bread
Assorted cut-up vegetables


Slow Cooker Directions

  1. Combine artichokes, cheeses, mayonnaise, onion, oregano and garlic powder in 1-1/2-quart slow cooker; mix well.
  2. Cover; cook on LOW 2 hours.
  3. Meanwhile, cut pita breads into wedges. Arrange pita breads and vegetables on platter; serve with warm dip. Use any other kind of corn chips as well- scoops can be fun for kids! Another fun activity is using a large round bread and letting kids scoop the middle out and place the dip inside as a ‘bread bowl’ .
